Star sapphire is an extremely rare variety of sapphire displaying asterism under specific lighting. Typically seen as a six rayed star on the surface of the cabochon. A star is caused by tiny needle-like inclusions of rutile that intersect at different angles and reflect light. This ring is out of this galaxy with its natural purple color change star sapphire totaling more than 10 carats. Mounted in 18K white gold the star is immersed in an array of blue and purple sapphires.
